Renacer Ayahuasca Makes BookRetreat’s Top 10 Plant Medicine Retreats for Deep Healing and Transformation in 2025
Last month, BookRetreats shared a list of top 10 plant medicine retreats for deep healing and transformation in 2025, and Renacer Ayahuasca was listed as number 3! It was such an honor as we work towards being recognized as one of the best Ayahuasca retreats in Ecuador.
According to BookRetreats, their guide highlighted the top 10 best plant medicine retreats worldwide, emphasizing safety, tradition, and expert facilitation.
It was a list compiled for those who have tried everything. Meditation retreats, digital detoxes, setting boundaries with toxic people, yet still unable to feel the weight lift off your shoulders. For those still waiting for life to make sense. Still waiting to find a deep connection to themselves, still waiting to not be so triggered by past experiences.
This is why so many seek the best Ayahuasca retreats in Ecuador. Rooted in ancient indigenous traditions, these retreats offer the space to experience the sacred medicine of the jungle to facilitate spiritual awakening, emotional release, and physical well-being.
After all, there’s a reason why these traditions have continued for thousands of years, but finding a safe and authentic way to experience the medicine is crucial to ensuring a meaningful and secure experience.
BookRetreats highlighted 2 main reasons to choose a plant medicine retreat:
- The power of traditional healing – being guided by highly experienced facilitators who have held countless ceremonies leads to a profound journey. Their knowledge runs deep, and their wisdom creates the perfect environment for healing.
- Scientific and spiritual benefits – Research has shown that consuming ayahuasca helps improve mindfulness and acceptance. Additionally, a study in 2018 found that taking ayahuasca reduced depression and stress immediately after use and continued to reduce 4 weeks after the initial consumption.
This sacred brew can rewire neural pathways and enhance emotional resilience.
The guidance BookRetreats shared around what to look for in a safe and authentic plant medicine retreat aligns with ours as well:
Experienced and Trained Facilitators
A reputable retreat should have trained shamans or facilitators with extensive experience guiding ceremonies. Their role is crucial in ensuring a safe and supportive environment during deep experiences with sacred plant medicines. To understand the facilitator’s experience, don’t hesitate to ask questions. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your gut and keep going with your search.
Ethical Sourcing of Plant Medicine
Responsible retreats source sacred plant medicine sustainably and honor the indigenous traditions they originate from. This ensures authenticity and respect for the sacred practices involved.
Medical Screening and Safety Protocols
A high-quality retreat will have a rigorous intake process to assess participants’ physical and mental health, reducing the risk of adverse reactions.
Integration Support for Lasting Change
Healing doesn’t stop after the ceremony. The best retreats offer post-retreat integration support, such as counseling, group discussions, and resources to help participants incorporate insights into their daily lives.
Renacer Ayahuasca was born out of a shared reverence for the path of healing Grandmother Ayahuasca can open for those who are ready to walk it.
Mercedes and I first met during a ceremony she facilitated for me during a private retreat I came to Ecuador for, three months before deciding to move here.
What prompted me to move to Ecuador, was an offer I received to manage a plant medicine retreat center, where Mercedes was serving Ayahuasca monthly for their healing retreats.
It took us about 3 months to realize that there was something really special between us. I realized that I wanted to put my life in service to Ayahuasca, and that I wanted to learn and walk that path alongside Mercedes. Luckily for me, that was aligned with what she was feeling as well.
Shortly after, we decided to take the jump and start facilitating our own Ayahuasca retreats. We wanted to have the freedom to design every aspect of the retreat experience for the participants who chose to come sit with us. From the workshops and excursions selected to complement the Ayahuasca experience, to additional ancestral healing traditions and medicines that we wanted to include, to the food. We had a clear picture of what our ideal retreat would look like, so we set off on bringing it to life.
This journey began in June of 2022. It’s been a beautiful journey of opening our hearts, sharing our work, growing, and learning along the way. We’re so grateful for the beautiful souls who have come to experience our container, and we’re inspired to continue dreaming and weaving those dreams into reality, into our offerings, in what and how we share with those who feel the call to come.
Ayahuasca has grown immensely in popularity in the past decade. There are so many options to choose from, and the medicine is more accessible than ever. It’s beautiful that someone in the United States, for example, can access the medicine there if they are otherwise unable to travel to the territories where it originates. And for those who can and are willing to journey down to the equator, we’re here to welcome you with open arms.
